You’re Not Just Looking for Another Activity
You want something your child will enjoy—but you also want that time to matter.
Maybe your child is shy around new people. Maybe listening, staying focused or following directions can still be a challenge. Or maybe they have plenty of energy and need a positive place to use it.
That’s exactly why we created Little Dragons.
Through fun, structured classes, we help young students practice:
- Listening and following directions
- Confidence in new situations
- Balance, coordination and body control
- Respect for instructors, classmates and family
- Taking turns and working with others
- Persevering when something feels difficult
These skills don’t develop overnight. They grow through encouragement, repetition and a series of small wins.
What a Little Dragons Class Feels Like
Every class is designed specifically for children ages 4–6. We keep lessons active, positive and age-appropriate so students can learn without feeling overwhelmed.
Your child will practice basic martial arts movements, coordination drills, listening games and simple character lessons with instructors who understand how to teach young children.
We celebrate effort and improvement—not perfection.
Some children jump right in. Others need a little time to feel comfortable. Both are completely normal. Our instructors learn about each student and help them take the next step at a pace that works for them.
Growth You Can See On and Off the Mat
Parents often begin looking for martial arts because they want their child to become more confident, focused or disciplined.
Over time, that growth can look like:
- Walking onto the mat with less hesitation
- Raising their hand or speaking with more confidence
- Following multi-step directions more consistently
- Trying again instead of immediately giving up
- Showing better control of their body and energy
- Feeling proud after learning something new
- Looking forward to seeing instructors and classmates
There is no overnight transformation. But one class at a time, those small victories begin to add up.
A Place Where Families Feel Welcome
Sasaki Kenpo has served Oxnard families since 1992. We want our studio to feel like a home away from home—a place where students are known, encouraged and treated like part of the team.
Our instructors don’t simply teach a class and move on. We take the time to learn about our students, recognize what they need and help them get the most from their experience.
Parents and siblings are welcome to watch. We want you to see how your child is being taught, supported and celebrated.

Little Dragons Frequently Asked Questions
Does my child need any experience?
Not at all. Little Dragons is designed for beginners. We introduce each skill step by step and help children become comfortable at their own pace.
What if my child is shy or hesitant?
That is very common at this age. Your child will never be expected to walk in and immediately feel comfortable. Our instructors will encourage them without embarrassing or pressuring them. Sometimes the first victory is simply stepping onto the mat and trying.
Can parents watch class?
Yes. Parents and siblings are welcome to watch. We want families to feel comfortable and be part of the experience.
What should my child wear to the first class?
Comfortable clothes they can move in are fine. Check the Current Little Dragons Special above to see whether a karate uniform is included with the introductory offer.
How long is class?
Little Dragons classes are 30 minutes. This allows us to keep students active and focused while giving them an age-appropriate introduction to martial arts.
How often should my child attend?
Most students attend twice each week. Consistent attendance helps children become comfortable, remember what they are learning and build momentum.
Is martial arts safe for young children?
Safety and control are always priorities. Lessons are age-appropriate, closely supervised and taught step by step. Young students focus on fundamentals, coordination, listening and controlled movement.
What happens after the introductory special?
We will explain the available membership choices clearly and answer your questions. There is no high-pressure sales presentation. You can decide whether continuing feels right for your child and family.
Let Their First Small Win Start Here
Your child doesn’t need to be confident before starting martial arts. Confidence is something we help them build—one class, one skill and one small victory at a time.
